Ms. Culi's class

The first week of camp was a little rough. I struggled to find the materials we needed and what the children needed. I did not understand why my preparations became pointless until I realized that these students needed more than what I could give them as a "camp counselor", but they needed me as a support system,  the light of their day, the happy and fun person, and their nurturer.

My location was not provided for, and sadly, the children were used to that. Some necessities to us were things that they were used to not having. It made me upset,  disheartened, and furious. Students did not have water, enough to eat as to where they would argue over food, and the school was in horrible condition.

This camp is for the children,  and I will continue to try to do as much as I can to impact their lives with as much fun and generosity as possible,  because we might be all they have..

  1. Very well said! We do what we can with what's provided.

    1. YES! You are so much more than a counselor to many, if not all. Some educators do not realize that. They are blessed that you do :)
